PUSH-UP ALARM APP

The alarm that makes you do push-ups before it stops.

Prop your phone on the floor, do push-ups in front of the camera for 10 seconds, and the alarm ends. The check runs on your phone and nothing is uploaded.

HOW THE MISSION WORKS

Ten seconds of push-ups, not a rep count.

The mission asks for push-ups for 10 seconds rather than a fixed number of reps. The timer only advances while the camera sees your upper body rising and falling with your body roughly flat. Stop moving and it stops counting; start again and it carries on.

The form check is deliberately forgiving. A sagging or piked plank still counts, and a side view is judged as fairly as a front view. The point is to get you onto the floor and moving, not to grade your technique at 6am.

HOW WAKR CHECKS IT

Your phone watches the movement, not the picture.

Pose, on the device

Wakr tracks your shoulders when it can see them and your face when it cannot, and looks for the up-and-down range of a push-up over the last second and a half.

Only real movement counts

Holding a plank, or holding the phone up to a photo, does not advance the timer. A single frame can never complete the mission.

Nothing leaves the phone

Each frame is examined in memory and discarded. No photo or video is saved, and nothing is uploaded to Wakr or anyone else.

SET IT UP TONIGHT

Four things that make the push-up mission work first time.

  1. 1

Pick a spot on the floor.

Clear enough room to lie flat, away from furniture edges, somewhere you can reach from bed.

  2. 2

    Prop the phone low.

Lean it against a wall, a shoe, or a book at floor level so the front camera can see your shoulders or face. Do not hold it.

  3. 3

    Make sure there is light.

The camera needs to see you. A dark bedroom is the most common reason the timer sits at zero, so plan to switch a light on first.

  4. 4

    Practise once.

Setup has you complete the mission before your first alarm, so you can find the right phone position before the morning you need it.

Choose it only if push-ups suit your body.

Do the mission somewhere safe, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort. If push-ups are not appropriate for you, pick a gentler mission.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU

As far from lying in bed as a mission gets.

Best for. A hard physical reset that fits in a small space. Getting down to the floor is about as far from lying in bed as a mission can take you.

Worth knowing. The phone needs to see you from the side on the floor, so prop it up somewhere low and lit. Skip it if push-ups are not appropriate for your body.

Push-ups also appear in apps such as Wayk and Clucky. Wakr’s version works on the Free plan, has no snooze, and verifies the movement without saving any footage.
